About the Artist

Atlanta native and University of Georgia graduate Carol Dew has studied plein air painting at workshops ranging from South Carolina and New York to Italy and France with nationally known artists such as Kim English, William Jameson, Charles Sovek, Ken Backhaus, Camille Przewodek and Connie Winters. In Atlanta, she has studied portraiture for several years with well- known portrait artist Jim Schell. Carol particularly enjoys capturing fleeting moments with children and beloved dogs in her portrait work.

Having lived abroad with her family in both the Middle East and Japan, Carol has found that art provides her a means of reflecting on the wonderful places and people she has encountered along the way. Her art recalls her experiences of the unplanned and serendipity that are always part of adventures in foreign lands. Carol feels that travel is a metaphor for life’s journey. Through her high key palette of colors and focus on the play of light, she enjoys capturing the mood of many happy moments of the journey. She is pleased to share her impressions of places, people and pets with those who see and enjoy her paintings.
